North east Scotland’s ambition is to be one of the most productive and resilient economies in the UK and lead the drive to net zero.
Transformational projects led by Opportunity North East are enhancing the economic potential of digital tech, food and drink, life sciences and tourism. Specialist programmes enable business leaders, entrepreneurs and founders to create and grow businesses and lead in the transition to a low-carbon economy with more than 600 businesses supported.
ONE has led £150 million of investment into the region's growth sectors over the past eight years, working with public, private and philanthropic funding and delivery partners.
ONE is the private sector partner in the Aberdeen City Region Deal, alongside the UK Government, Scottish Government, Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council, and leads on the deal's innovation projects. The £250 million deal is co-funded by the UK Government and Scottish Government. Working with industry and partners, ONE secured a total of £210 million of capital funding in the deal for three sector innovation projects. The OGTC - now the Net Zero Technology Centre - launched in October 2016. ONE leads the delivery and is a co-funder of the ONE BioHub and ONE SeedPod projects, which will be transformational for the life sciences and food and drink sectors in the region.
