OPPORTUNITY NORTH EAST – DIGITAL & ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Opportunity North East (ONE) aims to catalyse and enable the creation of a vibrant digital economy embedded in the North East and to turn the region into a global hub for people and businesses that want to engage in the industrial digital economy.
Digital has a significant role to play in achieving the long-term transformation of the North East’s economy. Building a vibrant digital cluster in the region will help companies across all sectors to transform their businesses to make them more competitive and productive.
The ONE Digital & Entrepreneurship (D&E) Board was established in August 2017 in recognition of the opportunity to grow the sector with a focus on industrial digital. Opportunity North East is investing to create the ecosystem to make this happen. ONE D&E aims to grow 10 to 20 digital companies with a turnover of circa £20m and international aspirations by 2023, and enhance the entrepreneurial environment to enable business growth across the key sectors and at all stages of the entrepreneurial journey.
Working with industry and partners, we will:
- Accelerate the growth of the region’s digital companies
- Catalyse corporate transformation in the region’s larger companies – bringing new ways of thinking to larger companies to help them respond to opportunities through digital.
- Develop an understanding of the future skills requirements within the digital tech sector – by encouraging and facilitating the skills ecosystem to identify and respond to demand.
- Build a high performing digital tech sector cluster and ecosystem connecting digital tech start-ups, scale ups and establishing local tech companies, with companies who are undertaking digital transformation and with the talent and expertise of our colleges and Universities.
Opportunity North East (ONE) has led the development of ONE Tech Hub with Robert Gordon University (RGU) and ONE CodeBase as key partners. ONE Tech Hub is home to the digital tech and entrepreneurship community in the North East of Scotland. Find out more here
