ONE and its partners are using a world-class entrepreneurship programme to drive the creation of high-growth, innovation-led enterprises.
ONE is working with the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology and regional partners to develop and deliver best-in-class entrepreneurial education.
Over the past six months, ONE has led and funded two cohorts to the USA to complete MIT’s entrepreneurship development programme. Thirty-six people involved in leading entrepreneurial education have completed the programme from ONE, Robert Gordon University, University of Aberdeen, Scottish Enterprise, CodeBase, ETZ Ltd, Elevator, Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council.
Drawing on MIT’s disciplined entrepreneurship and venture mentoring models, the project will initially apply the proven 24-step approach to supporting entrepreneurs and founders on ONE start-up and scale-up programmes and introduce a new mentoring programme.
“Our region and Scotland need more high-growth businesses to improve productivity, increase competitiveness and create high-value sustainable jobs. ONE is developing a relationship with MIT and working with partners to apply its best-in-class practical methodology in the region. Ensuring we give entrepreneurs and founders the best possible support to succeed. North east Scotland has consistently been one of the most enterprising regions in the UK. We are committed to ensuring that continues in the net zero economy," said Stanley Morrice MBE, vice chair of Opportunity North East and chair of the ONE food, drink and agriculture board.
